This is a translation provided for convenience. In case of discrepancy, the
French version prevails.
You can delete your KanjiQuizz account and everything in it, at any time, without having to justify it. There are two ways: from the app, or by email if you no longer have it.
Before you start
Deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no recycle bin, no cooling-off period, no safety backup. Once deletion is confirmed, your progress is gone and nobody can restore it — not even us.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. The account and the progress stay on the server. To erase everything, follow the steps below.
If you only want a break, simply log out: Profile tab → Account → Log out. Your progress will be waiting for you.
Method 1 — From the app (immediate)
Follow these steps in order. Each step is a single action.
- Open the KanjiQuizz app on your phone.
- Log in to your account if you are not already logged in.
- Tap the Profile tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the card showing your username at the top of the screen. The Account screen opens.
- Scroll to the bottom, down to the Danger zone section.
- Tap Delete my account.
- Read the warning "This action is permanent".
- Tick the box "I understand that my account and all my data will be permanently deleted."
- Type your password in the Current password field.
- Tap Delete permanently.
Your account is deleted immediately. The app takes you back to the main screen, logged out: that is the confirmation that deletion succeeded.
If something does not work
You cannot see the "Delete my account" button → your version of the app is too old. Update it from the Play Store and try again. If the button still does not appear, use method 2.
The message "Incorrect password" appears → the account has not been deleted; nothing happened. Check what you typed and try again. After several failed attempts in a row, the app asks you to wait a few minutes before trying again: this protects against deletion by a third party.
An error message appears, or the screen spins endlessly → check your internet connection and try again. The account has not been deleted: nothing partial happened. If the error persists, use method 2.
You cannot log in (forgotten password, lost email address) → use method 2. You do not need access to your account to request its deletion.
Method 2 — By email (if you no longer have the app)
This route works even if you have uninstalled the app, changed phones, or lost your password.
- Write to help.kanjiquizzapp@outlook.fr.
- Use the subject: Delete my KanjiQuizz account.
- Send the message from your account's email address. That is what lets us check the request really comes from you.
- Send.
You receive a confirmation, and the account is deleted within 30 days at most — in practice, much sooner.
If you no longer have access to that email address, write anyway: you will be asked for other details to check that the account is yours. Those details are destroyed once the check is done.
What is deleted
Everything about you:
- your email address;
- your password;
- your username;
- all your progress: kanji, kana, vocabulary, example sentences, with the counts of correct and wrong answers;
- your spaced-repetition schedule;
- your quiz session history;
- your experience points, level and rank;
- your daily streak.
None of it is kept, archived or anonymised for reuse. It is erased. No backup holds a copy of it.
Your favourites and settings (language, theme, quiz preferences) are not stored on our servers: they stay in the app, on your phone. If you delete your account from the app, your favourites are erased from that device at the same time. Settings disappear when you uninstall the app.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get my account back after deletion?
No. Nothing is kept, so there is nothing to restore.
Can I create a new account with the same email address?
Yes. It will be a brand-new, empty account with no trace of the previous one.
How long does it take?
From the app: immediate. By email: 30 days at most, usually much less.
I just want to reset my progress, not delete my account.
That is not possible today: the app offers no progress reset separate from account deletion. The only option is to delete the account, then create a new — empty — one, with the same email address if you wish.
Can I delete my account from a computer?
There is no web space to manage your account. Use the app, or the email method.
What if I never created an account?
Then there is nothing to delete: without an account, the app stores nothing personal on the server. Uninstalling the app is enough.
